Dingle Distillery’s New Small Batch Releases

The Dingle Whiskey Distillery has released a series of new small batch whiskies, the second set of releases from the distiller. The Dingle Distillery, in the old sawmills on the fringes of Dingle, Europe’s most westerly town, is Ireland’s first purpose-built distillery in over 100 years.

  • Dingle Single Malt Whiskey Batch No. 2, 70cl, ABV 46.5%, limited edition of 6,000 bottles, RRP €65. Matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, as well as bourbon casks, this whiskey displays notes of citrus and vanilla.
  • Dingle Cask Strength Whiskey Batch No. 2, 70cl, ABV 60.2%, limited edition of 500 bottles, RRP €125. This cask strength limited edition release reflects the original flavour of the single malt matured in bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez casks before the reduction in ABV.
  • Dingle Pot Still Whiskey, 70cl, ABV 46.5%, 3 Casks. RRP €90, limited edition of 800 bottles. Matured exclusively in Pedro Ximenez casks, this small batch release has notes of dried fig and candied citrus peel with a suggestion of warm winter spices and plum pudding.
  • Dingle Single Malt, 70cl, ABV 46.5%, 2 Casks. RRP €78, limited edition of approximately 700 bottles. Matured in a marriage of port and bourbon casks, this release has notes of tangerine and ginger with a creamy, long vanilla finish.

Porterhouse and Dingle Distillery seeking €4m to grow

The Porterhouse pub and craft brewing group and the related Dingle Distillery are seeking to raise €4 million under a State investment incentive scheme to fund expansion at their respective premises in Dublin and Kerry. Dingle Distillery last week launched a fundraising round under the Employment & Investment Incentive Scheme (EIIS), which offers tax relief to investors in qualifying small companies.

Liam laHart, a director of the company, said it was seeking to raise €2 million to fund the expansion of production to meet the demand for its whiskey and gin, which won the best gin in Ireland at the recent Irish Whiskey Awards.

Irish Whiskey Weekly News - Nov 2 - 2017 - Green Spot

Irish Distillers release new Green Spot edition

Named Green Spot Chateau Montelena, Irish Distillers claims this is the first single pot still Irish whiskey to be finished in French oak barrels that once housed Zinfandel.Matured until the combination of wine, whiskey and oak “has reached the perfect balance”, this is the second in the Wine Geese series following the launch of Green Spot Château Léoville Barton in 2015.

The Montelena whiskey was initially matured in American Bourbon and Sherry casks and then finished for a year in French oak Zinfandel barrels. According to its makers, this rare cask finish leads to “pomegranate, cranberry and a maraschino cherry on the nose, a dry note to the silky mouthfeel and the finish combines classic long pot still spice flavours with a delicate wine influence”.
