Gruppo Campari sells Carolans, Irish Mist to Heaven Hill Brands  

Gruppo Campari has announced plans to sell Carolans and Irish Mist drinks brands to Heaven Hill Brands. This will happen through the sale of all of the share capital of the subsidiary TJ Carolan & Son Ltd in a deal worth US$165 million (€141.7 million). The transaction is due to be expected on August 1, 2017. Gruppo Campari will continue to distribute the Carolans and Irish Mist brands outside the US.

 

 


Irish Drinks Brands Look To US Market For Expansion

Irish brands are looking to capitalise on the success of Irish drinks brands in the US market in 2016. Last year, exports to the US soared to over €514 million with whiskey leading the way in terms of popularity. According to Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed, the US is the destination for nearly 45% of produce – it is the fastest growing spirits brand globally with exports of 3.7 million cases. “I am determined our new and impressive progress will endure,” Creed said.

 


 

More Regulation Needed, Says CEO Of Waterford Distillery.

Mark Reynier, founder and CEO of Waterford Distillery, and the former MD of Scotland’s Bruichladdich Distillery, has stated that the arrival of new Irish whiskey distilleries and brands could mean that some could “play fast and loose with presentation”. With so many more distilleries in Ireland, the establishment of greater regulations for the industry should be made a “priority. Reynier was speaking to The Spirits Business on the subject.
