Whiskey of the Week – No.5 – Teeling Single Grain

Our  Whiskey of the week this week is Teeling Single Grain – No.2 on our tasting tour and another beautiful Irish whiskey.

Watch our whiskey expert Justine get to grips with this rare drop of liquid gold. It is a fantastic dram in a category that is very slim at present. It is made from corn instead of the usual barley, and is aged in Ex-Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels by the master distiller at Teeling Distillery – Alex Chasko – who you can see in the distillery in the video below.

History of Teeling Distillery

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years and has revived the craft of distilling in the very heart of Dublin city. The new distillery is right back where it started in 1782 and only a stone’s throw away from where Walter Teeling’s old distillery was. Located in an ancient market square called Newmarket, an area long associated with brewing and distilling, the new distillery is a three copper pot still operation reviving the traditional style of Dublin whiskey distillation.

We think it’s a great whiskey of the week and we hope other distilleries follow suit and start making some for themselves. A fantastic grain whiskey that Aeneas Coffey would be proud of.

Next week our whiskey of the week will be the wonderful Jameson 18 Irish whiskey. We hope you are enjoying our new whiskey of the week series, if you fancy our guides reviewing your favourite Irish whiskey. drop us a line. slainte!
