Walsh Whiskey Distillery has appointed Lisa Ryan as its new distillery manager. Ryan comes with a wealth of industry experience in the areas of production and operations – having previously worked at Waterford Distillery and Diageo. Walsh Whiskey produces The Irishman and Writers’ Tears Irish whiskeys. Ryan succeeds Aidan Finnegan who relocated to Scotland.

In other breaking news, Walsh Whiskey Walsh has chosen Dugas of Paris as its French distributor for its premium Irish whiskey brand Writers Tears from September 1.

Dublin Whiskey Tours - Kevin O'Gorman

Irish Whiskey Society welcoming Irish Distillers to Wynnes Hotel

On June 29, the Whiskey Society invites you to an evening of Whiskey & Woodwork with Irish Distillers at Wynn’s Hotel in Dublin city centre.

Expert speakers include Irish Distillers’ master of maturation Kevin O’Gorman and Midleton global brand ambassador Ger Garland, who will join Mark Tarleton of Purser Tarleton Russell, forest industry consultancy and research, to lead you through the features, flavours, and experimental future of their blossoming wood policy. Tickets are selling fast so early booking is advised to prevent disappointment.

Dublin Whiskey Tours - ABFI Map

New Interactive map of Irish Distilleries on ABFI website

We’re loving the new interactive map of Irish distilleries that is now viewable on the Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI) website. You can sort by planned, new and existing distilleries – that’s 31 distilleries in total, proof that the industry really is one to watch right now!

Dublin Whiskey Tours - Fathers Day Competition

Our competition was won by Muireann Kane and her dad

And The Winner Is

Congratulations to Muireann Kane and her dad, winners of our Father’s Day competition to celebrate our first year in business. Muireann liked our Facebook page, and shared a photo of her dad enjoying a whiskey to the page with the hashtag #mywhiskeydad. They will enjoy a two-hour tasting tour in Dublin where they will sample five premium whiskeys in three of the best whiskeys bars in the city – lucky them!

Dublin Whiskey Tours - Teeling Craft Fair

Dublin Whiskey Tours - Potstilled

Irish Whiskey Stateside: The Lowdown

Irish whiskey is having an increasingly flirtatious fling with US consumers, according to a new Potstilled.com <link> blog post by Matt Healy. As a brand ambassador for Tullamore Dew in the US, Matt certainly has his eyes and ears to the ground across the water. He explains how new Irish brand entrants to the market have two choices; they can attempt to price themselves below that of Jameson or proceed to be price premium to the most famous Irish whiskey. Check it out – it’s a great read.
